S3DA News & Tournament Results

Scholastic 3-D Archery will be partnering with NFAA to help spread the S3DA program into the western United States. S3DA will host a Western U.S. Indoor National Championship in conjunction with both the NFAA Vegas shoot and the Western U.S. 3-D National Tournament. The

tournament site is yet to be determined.

“NFAA and S3DA’s partnership is a step towards advancing archery’s future,” said Bruce Cull, President of NFAA. “The NFAA has always been committed to strong youth divisions, as evidenced by our scholarship program. It is clear to me that S3DA shares the same vision as we do of advancing competitive youth archery. I am proud to partner with S3DA and look forward to working with them to grow our sport.”

Louisville, KY –The Cabela’s Outdoor Fund, with a

mission to promote conservation and hunting, fishing,

camping, boating and other outdoor sporting and

recreational activities, for the second straight year, has

awarded a $100,000 grant to the Scholastic 3-D

Archery program. S3DA provides 3-D archery

opportunities for youth in afterschool settings, as well

as with archery-affiliated clubs and businesses in their

communities. The Scholastic 3-D Archery program

places special emphasis on archery education,

conservation, and bowhunting.

“It is incredible to have this level of support from The

Cabela’s Outdoor Fund,” says Jennie Richardson, Executive Director of Scholastic 3-D Archery. “Their

generous grant will, once again, positively impact every level of our organization. From internal

operations to helping S3DA establish active programs in every state, this grant will make a real difference

for youth 3-D archery and aspiring bowhunters. Cabela’s is one of the most respected names in the

outdoor industry and to have the support of Cabela’s Outdoor Fund is a huge step forward for S3DA.”

Cabela’s Outdoor Fund is a non-profit organization dedicated to efforts that promote and protect hunting,

shooting sports, trapping, fishing, camping and conservation. This fund is possible through donations from

generous Cabela’s customers who choose to “round up” their purchases to the nearest dollar at Cabela’s

stores. The Cabela’s Outdoor Fund contributes to other like-minded organizations across the country

working to make the great outdoors even better.

“The Scholastic 3-D Archery program has done an incredible job making the link between competitive

archery, conservation and hunting”,” said Scott Wanetka, vice president of Cabela’s Outdoor Fund. “We

are excited about this formula creating a fun and competitive environment for youth while also putting

more hunters in the field.”

“Many thanks to Cabela’s Outdoor Fund for this generous grant,” said Dr. Jack Frost, Board Member for

Scholastic 3-D Archery and Sr. Member of the Pope and Young Cub. “When a major hunting and

conservation organizations such as Cabela’s Outdoor Fund recognizes the importance of a program by

making a significant contribution, it shows how good that program is expected to be for the future of

hunting and conservation.”

“Cabela’s Outdoor Fund’s grant of $100,000 will allow the S3DA program to stay on track as the fastest

growing youth archery program in the nation,” added Fred Pape, Scholastic 3-D Archery Board Member

and Owner of Papes Archery. “S3DA has proven itself to be the premier hunter recruitment program

bringing students and families into archery and bowhunting.”

Started in December 2012 by the Scholastic Archery Association, S3DA has grown exponentially as a

next step program to follow introductory programs offered as part of 4-H or the National Archery in

Schools Program. S3DA addresses the need for a program to bridge beginning target archery experience

and more advanced activities such as 3-D shooting and bowhunting. The program currently operates

across the United States with hundreds of certified coaches serving thousands of young archers, grades

3–12.
