Former S3DA Students Win Big at USIAC 3D Championships

Former S3DA students had a huge impact on the United States Intercollegiate 3D Championships held at the Sahara Woods Fish and Wildlife Area in Carrier Mills, Illinois, October 2nd – 4th. The USAIC 3D Championships consist of a Bowhunter, Compound, and Recurve division. Each division held individual Men’s and Women’s, as well as team rounds. 130 shooters from across the nation competed, which was the largest group of shooters to ever compete at the USIAC 3D Championships.

“The way that the S3DA program is set-up, it allows students to make an easier transition from high school to college,” says Kris Strebeck, Head Archery Coach at University of the Cumberlands.

“This allows them to be better prepared and to take what they have learned in S3DA and continue to grow in the sport. When students come out of S3DA, they have been given the education and tools that will help them make the adjustment easier than others. With that being said, I am very proud of how my team competed all weekend with 7 – 1st place, 3 – 2nd place, 4 – 3rd place finishes and the Overall 3D National Championship Team Finish.”

S3DA Names Site for 2016 National Tournament

Scholastic 3D Archery has announced that the 2016 National Tournament and State Coordinators Conference will take place June 17-19th in Metropolis, IL. 2016 will mark the first “stand alone” National Tournament for S3DA. The 2 day shoot will be held the Mermet Lake State Park and will include 40 targets and a shoot-down event.

“We are extremely excited that our National tournament will be a stand-alone event in 2016,” says Jennie Richardson, S3DA Executive Director. “With over 24 states on board and more waiting, we expect a very large event. ASA has been more than gracious the past three years to include our tournament in with their Pro-Am in London, KY. This year our numbers really taxed their event, staff and facility.

” S3DA will also hold their State Coordinators Conference during the National Tournament in Illinois. “This should be a great conference and I’m excited to see how many states and countries will be on board by June, 2016,” stated Richardson. – See more at:
